Belly shots and Pioneer Weekend

The belly shots are mostly for my mom and Tamara, both of whom have asked me for more belly shots...I must say, the swimming shot with Robin makes me look (in Elise's words) "droopy." He is so ready to come out! I really love the shirt: "Baby in Belly." It's really comfortable and it announces to everyone, "I'M NOT FAT!" :-)

Man, I look so big!!

Aside from that, Justin and I had some IBC root beer left over from our anniversary celebration, and that silly boy felt like having IBC lids for eyes. Mine worked better because my eyes are smaller...I love his face!

and then on Pioneer day we went swimming with Robin, my good friend whom I used to live with! She came with us, and it felt so good! It was SO hot that day, I was dying! Justin wanted to go down the slides, too, so it was good that Robin was able to go with him. We played hide-and-go-seek in the kiddy pool...LOL. and I saved a little girl. That was exciting. It was a good day!

Robin, am I taller than you????

And here's the belly shot of me and Robin...the "Droopy" shot of me. :-/
Check it out! hahahah

We're mostly just in "limbo" as we wait each day to see if the little baby boy is going to decide to come early or not. By the way, who is voting that he will come late? Are y'all TRYING to jinx us? We are flying out August 31st, so we would really like him to come at least on time, but preferably early.
We'll keep y'all posted!...

Happy Anniversary!

Well, we decided to celebrate our anniversary a couple of weeks ago because with me being so pregnant, we wanted to be sure that I'd enjoy whatever it is we did... and it's a good thing! We went to Hogle Zoo up in Salt Lake. It was really fun to be out again and taking pictures...but sadly there were lots of no-shows from the animals. It was a hot day and most of them were inside where it was cooler.
And for some reason we kept seeing the backside of animals. Justin wanted to document their rear ends. :-) And we got slushies! I love ice these days, but the syrup turned my tongue/mouth green. The picture doesn't show how green I really was!

Just to prove that Justin was there with me...and then both of us seeing how we measure up to the silouette of the ape. It was hard to crouch! (sorry these are kind of small...I was playing with Picasa and wasn't sure what size to use.)

They had these water fountains all over the place, and always it was a lion with his mouth open. Well, at one point Justin and I were walking along a path that really had no animals...so he entertained us by getting attacked by the lion drinking fountain! silly boy!

That was all for the Zoo...

We did the zoo and dinner at Ruby Tuesdays a couple of weeks ago, as I mentioned.
So last night, the actual date of our anniversary, we had a nice candle lit dinner of Justin's favorite meal. Then we red boxed it with some IBC rootbeer. yummy!
These are the flowers Justin bought for me!! They are absolutely beautiful and the hydrangea are fitting for the occasion, since that's what he gave me when we got engaged, and that's what my bouquet was made of. I love them!!

These are the candles with our wedding photo album as the center piece. You can't see the food, but it was crispy herb chicken, rice-a-roni, and carrots. A pretty simple meal, but my Little Boy loves it! So I love being able to make it for him. :-) He also gave me a little wooden box that he made. See, we agreed no gifts this year just because we have a lot of expenses coming up in the next few months, so he decided to make me a box from leftovers of the cradle we are working on. The box is a little note box; I gave him a notebook for his birthday. It's something I write letters in every now and then and he gets to read them whenever he wants. This is his equivalent. I love it as well. He did some chip-carving on the front of it, and it looks so good! He is so talented! Sorry I don't have a picture of it. I'll get one...

Anyway, this is us!

Then, after dinner, we of course had to celebrate with our cake! Justin did the honors of opening it up after one year of sitting in our freezer! I was so curious as to what it would look like and how it would taste.
First the saran wrap...

Then the tin foil...

Then more saran wrap. We were afraid that once we took the last layer off the lattice work might break away, so we took pictures of how BEAUTIFUL it looks!! Shalon, Justin's sister, made our cake and she completely outdid herself! It's still gorgeous a year later!!

Look at that detail! Whoever wrapped our cake up did a very good job!

After we sliced it up...

It tatsted so good!! The icing was still so creamy and rich and smooth...I was so amazed that it would taste THAT good after a year! I'm so glad we saved it and that I didn't let Justin eat it earlier!

All in all, that's our anniversary! It was a splendid evening, a wonderful time spent with my husband and eternal companion! I love him so much! Happy times! :-D

Our Family Theme Song

Lately we have adopted a song--an oldie but goodie, as the saying goes--as the theme song of our family. It is "Danny's Song" by Loggins and Messina (the acoustic version is the best because you can hear the words). Well, I have a hard time understanding lyrics when they are sung, so lastnight Justin pulled up the lyrics for me. It really is a song to go with our family right now!

I've always thought that music communicates more than words can--knowing that we've adopted this song our as family theme song says more about both of us than I could write. Here are a few lyrics for you to sample.
Danny's Song

People smile and tell me I'm the lucky one,
And we've only just begun.
Think I'm gonna have a son.
He will be like she and me, as free as a dove,
Conceived in love.
Sun is gonna shine above.

And even though we ain't got money,
I'm so in love with you, honey,
And everything will bring a chain of love.
And in the morning, when I rise,
You bring a tear of joy to my eyes
And tell me everything is gonna be alright.

Does anyone else have a theme song, for themselves or for their family?

Downsizing

So... I wanted to build a crib before our man-child was born. Due to financial and time constraints, the crib has been downgraded to a cradle (sad because the crib would have been pretty cool). So I started playing with a few ideas... and finally settled on the following design. Let me know what you think... yay? nay? I may not end up getting a chance to build this one either, but doing the SolidWorks model was fun anyway.

Good Ol' Rodeo!

So, now that Justin and I are back in the singles ward, we get to do lots of things for free that family wards don't normally do. :-)

Like, a couple weekends ago we got free tickets to go sit on bleachers in the rain. We had, luckily, bought some cowboy hats at D.I., so our heads stayed dry. Yay for Rodeos! It was a lot of fun, and despite the rain, we were able to enjoy ourselves. Mine was a plastic hat. Yup. I felt so cool.

The people riding bulls sure are crazy: who decides they want to do that? I wondered that especially for the two guys wearing flags and stuff who tried to distract the bulls and tried to get them to follow them. Who volunteers, "Yeah, I'll be the bull bait. I can do that!" Anyone familiar with "Here's your sign?" lol

Anyway, it was really impressive, especially when the Kawasaki or some other off-road motorcycle-riding (what are they called?) brothers showed us some of their skill. They jumped so high and even did flips and let go of their motorcycle before landing. So impressive! How that fits into a rodeo, I dunno.

Anyway, here is a picture of us sportin' our cowboy hats and makin' faces. :-)
